How to Make Easy Hummus
I’ve come to challenge myself to purchase less food from the grocery store that comes in plastic. It’s definitely a challenge and especially during the first year of COVID because everything went into plastic. I am by no means perfect at it, but little by little I have been able work on one item at a time.
Hummus I found was one of those items that I wanted to learn how to make on our own.

We love hummus and we love it on all things – we use it as a spread on our sandwiches and we love it as a snack with cauliflower, carrots and other veggies. And course with pita bread.
I love this recipe because once you learn how to make the simple base, you can get creative and make it many different ways with any kind of spices.

Ingredients:
1 cup garbanzo beans (I peel the skins off but that is optional)
1/4 cup Tahini
1/2 lemon squeezed
1 tablespoon of garlic (or more depending on how much you like garlic)
3 tablespoons olive oil (and sometimes you may have to add more to get the right consistency)
salt and pepper to taste
spices such as:
turmeric
cayenne pepper
crushed red pepper
And sprinkle with dill for garnish
Feel free to add more of any of these ingredients to make it your own.
Instructions:
Put all ingredients in a blender or food processor and blend until desired consistency.
Enjoy and tell me what you like to use hummus on.
