How to Make Homemade Oatmeal

I am a creature of habit. I love my oatmeal in the mornings. When I was growing up we would use those individual instant Quaker oatmeal packets with all the good flavors. But as grew older I needed something with less sugar. That’s when I started experimenting with making my own homemade oatmeal. The benefits of making your own include, less processed food, less sugar, and less packaging because I buy my oats and spices in bulk.

Ingredients

1/3 cup organic whole Oats (or a little more)

1 Banana

1 teaspoon ground Flaxseed

2 sprinkles ground Cinnamon

1 sprinkle ground Nutmeg

And my new favorite, 1 sprinkle ground Cardamom

Instructions

Boil 1 cup of water in small sauce pot

Add one Banana

Add Oats, Flaxseed, and Spices

Stir intermittently and let cook until desired consistency

You have to watch it so the pot doesn’t burn!

Once it’s all cooked, I put it in a bowl and add my homemade milk, and homemade granola. Then to top it off, I add fruit such as strawberries or blueberries.

Hope you enjoy!
