How to Make Homemade Granola
This is my first recipe on this blog. I am starting with granola because it is my all-time favorite recipe to make. It is easy, smells delicious and warms my house as I am making it. I also love having it on hand for whenever I need a little gift for a friend or as a hostess gift.

I am also starting with granola because friends usually ask me for this recipe after they have tried it. This recipe is saved on my phone just in case a friend texts and ask, “Can you send me your granola recipe?”
I started experimenting and making granola about 4-5 years ago and pretty much have been making it ever since. It is a true staple in our home. In fact, if you’re a good friend you’ll know when you come to my house and I do not have some, you’ll ask me what’s wrong. Because at very least I will always make granola.
My new favorite is the lavender granola.

I always make at least 2 batches, one for our our home and one to share.
This base recipe is just a place to start. Feel free to add, omit or change any of the ingredients. Make it your own, get creative.
Ingredients (for 1 batch):
Dry
3 cups Organic oats
1 cup any Nuts/Seeds
And another 1 cup of a different nut or seed.
1/2 cup Flax Meal.
Spices: Cinnamon, Cardamom and Nutmeg.
Wet
1/3 cup Honey
1/2 cup Brown Sugar
Teaspoon of Vanilla
Instructions:
Preheat the oven at 350º
Place all the dry ingredients in a bowl.
Melt the brown sugar, honey and vanilla in a pot until butter is melted to a liquid. Watch it melt, you want to be careful NOT to keep it on for too long because it will burn.
Mix dry and wet ingredients together. Add spices according to your taste. This is where I also experiment with flavors like lavender. Then place on a flat pan and put it in the oven for 20 minutes.
Once done, let it sit out to cool in the pan. I let it sit for about 15 minutes to get that perfect crunch. Then I break it up and place in air tight jars for sharing and snacking!
I use granola to top off açaí bowls, smoothies, fruit bowls, oatmeal in the morning, or just as a snack during the day. Enjoy!
